Inspiration
Norlen pays homage to 1950s design with a contemporary twist, fusing minimalist shapes and vintage details. The gently rounded corners and wooden base evoke a nostalgic air reinterpreted with pure lines and contemporary proportions. The darkened walnut veneer, applied by vacuum membrane press, fits perfectly to the radii of the furniture, unifying the finish and adding depth and character to each piece. It has a polyurethane varnish finish, which ensures resistance to wear and moisture. The structure of the furniture is made of MDF board and the interior panels are covered in melamine with a tonal finish, maintaining the coherence of the design. The handles are in brushed stainless steel with a satin finish, which reduces the visibility of fingerprints and scratches and ensures high resistance to corrosion. Their slanted design also makes them easy to grip when opening the door. It is also certified with the FSC Mix Credit label, so it is made with a mixture of materials from FSC-certified forests and FSC-controlled wood. Each element has been designed to provide functionality without sacrificing style. It incorporates a hole in the rear panel for cable routing and adjusters in the base to precisely adapt to any surface. When you purchase a piece of furniture, a lamp, a mattress, a kitchen, home textiles or a rug, you pay an eco-contribution that helps fund the recycling of your old items.
What is eco-participation?
The eco-contribution is a fee added to the price of new furniture, bedding, textiles and electrical and electronic equipment such as lamps and light bulbs. It is paid by the consumer and passed on to the relevant eco-organization: Ecomaison for furniture, Refashion for textiles and Ecologic for electrical and electronic equipment.
Why?
It is used to finance the sorting, recycling, and recovery of mattresses, used furniture, lamps, and soft furnishings.
How does it work?
Ecomaison implements collection and recycling solutions in partnership with local authorities, social economy organizations (such as the Network of Recycling Centers and Emmaus), and furniture professionals.
Since 2013, through this initiative, Ecomaison has already handled over 10 million tons of used furniture and bedding, preventing the landfill of waste equivalent to 1,000 Eiffel Towers. Previously, 55% of discarded furniture ended up in landfills. Ten years later, it's less than 3%. With 800,000 tons per year, Ecomaison is now the leading supplier of recycled wood in France.
Who is Ecomaison?
Ecomaison is a state-approved eco-organization that manages the sorting, collection, reuse, and recycling of household items and materials, from the foundations to the finishing touches. Its mission is to collect and repurpose household items and materials, giving them a second life by donating, repairing, recycling, or using them as an energy source.
